Residents of the Anambra community demonstrate against a suspected land squatter

.

Indigenes of the Enugu-Agidi community in Anambra State’s Njikoka Local Government Area have opposed the activities of a suspected land grabber.

Protesters who stormed the Anambra State Police Command over the weekend claimed that parts of their land had been illegally taken by one Jeff Nweke, the proprietor of Blue Shield Security Company, a private security firm.

Protesters pleaded with Anambra police for help, claiming that Nweke had forcibly confiscated their land with the support of his armed security men. They further claimed that the operatives molest their wives at random.

While addressing the State Police Command on their grievance, the protesters’ leader, an elder statesman, Chief Peter Omekunsi, said: “As I speak to you, Ozo Nweke has forcefully collected so many people’s land across neighboring communities of Enugu-Agidi and Nibo respectively.”

“He is not from our community; he is from our neighbor, Awka.” We come from the villages of Ifite, Achalla, Igbolo, and Imoloieli in the Enugwu-Agidi community. We request the assistance of the State Police Commissioner, CP Adeoye Aderemi.”

Protesters, including elderly men and women, young people, and children, held signs outlining their grievances against Nweke.

When HEALTHYSPOT101 called Nweke, he confirmed that he was aware of the demonstration. He pleaded that he was in Abuja for a conference and would phone back immediately.

.

“Don’t bother calling back; I’ll call you,” he said. I’m currently in a meeting in someone’s office in Abuja, so I’m unable to speak with you.”

Despite the fact that the chat took place on Friday, he had not returned my call as of the time of making this report. On Saturday, he ignored many phone calls.
