Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, former Senate President, has awarded a four-year full scholarship to 100 students at Muhammad Kamalud-Deen University in Ilorin, Kwara State.

On Saturday, Saraki also donated projects worth millions of naira to the institution’s infrastructural development at the official commissioning of the private university owned by the Ansar-ul-Islam Society of Nigeria.

According to his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, N140 million was provided toward the four-year full scholarship of 100 student recipients, while another N26 million was donated to provide other university amenities.

“This project is personal to me as a genuine son of Ilorin, Baba Adini of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, and the Waziri Ngeri of the Ilorin Emirate.”

“This commissioning is a great project for every son and daughter of the Emirate, not only for the legacy of Sheikh Kamalud-Deen but for what we can do as Ilorin Emirate community,” Saraki said in a statement.

He went on to say, “It’s a project for society, and that’s why it’s our project.” That is why I have continued to play my role since it began in 2005 until today.”

The late Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-Deen Al-Adaby, the first Grand Mufti of Ilorin and founder of the Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria, created the university.
