As a caretaker coach, Belgian team Kortrijk has hired Akpala, a former Super Eagle

Former Super Eagles attacker Joseph Akpala has been appointed temporary head coach of the Belgian Pro League team KV Kortrijk.

After Glen De Boeck’s dismissal, Akpala will step in as interim manager of De Kerels.

The team’s bad streak led to Boeck’s dismissal.

After going winless in their past six games, KV Kortrijk have fallen to last place.

Akpala will be the team’s coach for the third time this season.

Prior to the start of the season, the 37-year-old acted as the team’s interim head coach.

In the early part of the season, after Edward Still was fired for poor performance, the Nigerian also served as the team’s interim manager.

On Friday, in a league match against Westerlo, Akpala will be hoping to steer Kortrijk to a win.
